Eric Mario Carballo

On Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 2:40 am, Eric Carballo was shot while he exited a vehicle in the 500 block of Southgate Avenue in the Aragona section of Virginia Beach.  He died from his injury.  His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where the cause of death was a gunshot wound with the manner of death a homicide.

Jesse Terrell Brown
On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10:09 pm, Police responded to the 1300 block of Thamesford Drive after a report of gunfire.  Jesse Brown was found suffering from a gunshot wound.  He died as a result of his injury.  The State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled this death a homicide.
Investigators were able to discover Mr. Brown had been involved in a confrontation with an unknown person just prior to the shooting.
Jesse was a 23 year old black male who had dark brown eyes, black hair, stood 6’ 1’’ tall weighing 161 pounds.

Russell Grant Valentine Jr.
On Tuesday, April 3, 2007, gunfire erupted in the 6000 block of Wesleyan Drive.  Responding police units found the body of a black male lying in the yard of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound.  Paramedics transported the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died a short time later.  The State Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and determined the death to be a homicide.
Investigators have identified the victim as 46 year old Russell Grant Valentine Jr. of the 6000 block of Wesleyan Drive, Virginia Beach.  He was a black male who had brown eyes, black hair, 6’ 1’’ tall weighing 200 pounds.

Walter Zakrzewski
On Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at 11:27 pm, Virginia Beach Police Emergency Dispatchers received a call from Virginia Wesleyan College requesting emergency Medical Personnel and Police respond for an injured security guard.  Police and Paramedics arrived on scene to find Walter (“Wally”) Zakrzewski deceased.  He was on duty at the time of this death.  Mr. Zakrzewski was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.  His death was determined to be a homicide.
Wally was a 57 year old white male who had white hair, hazel eyes, 5’ 8’’ tall weighing 179 pounds.

Shawn Gary John
On Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 8:30 am, a report of gunfire near the intersection of Old Virginia Beach Road and Barberton Drive was reported to the Virginia Beach 9-1-1.  Police responded to the area and found a body of a black male lying in the roadway bleeding.  Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased.  The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.  The cause of death was due to a gunshot wound and the manner of death a homicide.
Investigators were able to identify the victim of this murder as Shawn Gary John, a 34 year old who lived near the area of this murder.  He was a black male who had brown eyes, black receding hair, 5’ 10’’ tall, and 190 pounds.  He wore prescription glasses.
