Crime: Identity Theft 2022-044694

Victim had an account at Truist Bank in MD.

The client reported withdrawals from the account which were not authorized.  Investigation revealed the following withdrawals were completed:

On 5/10/22, an over-the-counter withdrawal in the amount of $ 6,200 was completed at the Haygood branch, 944 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach.

On 5/10/22, an over-the-counter withdrawal in the amount of $ 18,300 was completed at the Haygood branch, 944 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach. Two official checks were purchased using the funds: one check for $9,350 and the other for $8,950. Both were made payable to Neville Hancock.

On 5/10/22, an over-the-counter withdrawal in the amount of $ 18,975 was completed at the Haygood branch, 944 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach. Two official checks were purchased using the funds: one check for $9,250 and the other for $9,725. Both were made payable to Peter Carson.

The payee listed on each of the withdrawal tickets was the victim who has confirmed that the signatures on the withdrawal tickets were not his and that he has no knowledge of the person representing him in the branch.

Perpetrator:

Male/White, 40-50 years of age, 230-250 lbs, approximately 5’10”.
