Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Statistics

Since 1982, Virginia Beach Crime Solvers has received 43,062 anonymous tips. These tips have resulted in  8,400  arrests and 17,389 solved crimes.  Tips to Crime Solvers has recovered over $43,933,931 in narcotics, Illegal cash & stolen property.

Virginia Beach Crime Solvers has approved $1,398,499 in cash rewards to anonymous tipsters. Zero tax dollars are used to pay rewards!

 

End of Year 2025:   Virginia Beach Crime Solvers has received 1048 anonymous tips.  As a result of these tips there has been $17,620 in approved rewards. $136,048 in recovered stolen property: $219,724 worth of cash seized as a result of crime.  $61,014 in illegal drugs removed from the streets. Total $412,786 recovered.  Tips also helped remove 6 illegal handguns from the street. 

 

End of year 2024:  Virginia Beach Crime Solvers received 899 anonymous tips. With our tipsters help we solved 91 cases. Made 49 arrests. Authorized $19,095 in rewards to tipsters. Recovered $97,876 in stolen property, cash and drugs.  Removed 8 illegal handguns from the street.

On Friday January 16th, 2026  Crime Solvers Virginia Beach hosted an officer installation and Awards luncheon. Mayor Dyer installed five Executive Officers for the board.

Winners

Second Precinct Crime Suppression Squad. Detective Gary Cordingley, Detective Michael Smith, Detective Sydney Stephens, Detective Tyler DeSena,  and Officer Cody Fox, for their outstanding job in investigating several tips that lead to seizure of narcotics and firearms totaling $325,000.
