Virginia Beach Crime Solvers School Program
Purpose:
The Student Crime Solvers programs in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools were established in 1994 to provide a mechanism for motivating student involvement in reducing and preventing crime and violence within our school system, thereby improving the quality of life on and off campus within the City of Virginia Beach.
The purpose of this program is to receive, screen and distribute reports of unlawful acts committed in school buildings and upon school grounds. The Student Crime Solvers programs exist to encourage the anonymous reporting of such acts. These reports can be vital in assisting law-enforcement authorities and school administrators in the detection, prevention, and resolution of criminal activity. When such reports lead to arrests, recovery of contraband or stolen property, students may be eligible for a cash reward.
The Crime Solvers School program seeks to create an environment that promotes a safe place where all students will feel free to provide information about crimes committed, the use and sale of alcohol or drugs and the possession of weapons on school property. Additionally, the Crime Solvers School program strives to create awareness of student civic responsibility in reporting all criminal acts by others to the proper authorities.
