HOW TO SUBMIT A TIP
- Submit a tip using the "Submit a Tip" button on the top of our website, under most wanted. If you have an existing Tip, Click on Options and Language on the upper top right of the Tip form to log into the existing tip with your tip number and password.
- Use the P3 Tips app on your Apple or Android device or at www.p3Tips.com. If you have an Existing tip click on the button "Review or Edit an Existing Tip" to add to the previously submitted tip.
- Call the Crime Solvers hotline at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP
- You can submit a tip several ways. Right here on our website. On the P3 App on your smart phone. Or Use Facebook, look for the submit a tip button either on the left or top of the Facebook page.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL IN OR POST TIPS CONCERNING ONGOING AND/OR VIOLENT CRIMES TO THE CRIME SOLVERS TIPLINE. THESE CALLS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO 911 FOR IMMEDIATE POLICE RESPONSE.
OUR MISSION
The Virginia Beach Crime Solvers is a citizen-based program that works in partnership with the public, the Virginia Beach Police Department, businesses and the news media. The purpose of the program is to raise funds to pay anonymous rewards and to create public awareness of our anonymous web, text and tip lines that help to solve crimes and result in a safer city and improved quality of life for all.
YOU WILL STAY ANONYMOUS
When you give Crime Solvers a tip on a crime or fugitive's location, we will never ask you your name. Our phones do not have Caller ID, and our computers are paid for and owned by Crime Solvers, so they are not accessible under the Freedom of Information Act. Even more, the Virginia State Code not only protects the information you give us, but it also makes it illegal to release your identity, which we don't even know to begin with! In short, there will never have to be a worry that someone will find out you provided a tip to Crime Solvers.
YOU WILL NOT NEED TO APPEAR IN COURT
As we said already, your identity will not be known to us, so you can't be contacted and required to come to court, but besides even that, in order to receive a cash reward, you tip does not need to result in a conviction of a crime, only an arrest. As it happens, over 90% of our received tips DO result in the conviction of the crime, but your reward is not dependent on that. This is because your tip only points our local law enforcement in the right direction. It is up to them to solve the case, make the arrest, and appear in court. NOT YOU!
YOU WILL EARN CASH REWARDS
Once we receive your tip, we will forward the information to the appropriate investigative division. The tip will be looked into, and if the information directly leads to an arrest, you are eligible for a cash reward! At the next monthly meetings of the Board of Directors, a vote is held to approve a cash reward and for the amount. Your information could be worth up to $1,000! The more serious the crime, the higher the reward. Also, factors include the number of crimes, if drugs or guns were recovered, or if there is property was recovered. This all may increase the reward you receive. After approval, you are contacted via the P3 Tips Program, or we wait to hear from you via telephone.
